October is breast cancer awareness month. And so, this month, every day I’ll be sharing a photo of Princess Charlene in a pink outfit in support of all people, women and men who are fighting the disease. On Instagram, I’ll share a fact about breast cancer along with photos of HSH in a pink outfit. And on here, I’ll tell the story of the same look along with recommendations to copy the outfit. Now I don’t have all the looks worked out quite yet, so let’s hope we’ll have 30 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏿🙏. For more information about the disease, please visit WHO.
Day 1: March 10, 2012 – Bendigo, Australia
Princess Charlene opened the “Grace Kelly: Style Icon” exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery in Australia. The Princess arrived in a blush dress custom made for her by renowned Australian designer, Johanna Johnson. HSH paired the dress with an Akris clutch and Jimmy Choo sandals. Charlene arrived smiling and was taking numerous photos and highfiving children. In a later interview, she said that she wants girls to know that “anyone can be a princess.” I’m not exactly a fan of this dress (something about the sleeves), but to me this is one of Charlene’s most memorable events. ⠀
Day 2: September 12, 2012 – Monaco
Prince Albert inaugurated the new building of the Monegasque National Council (parliament, essentially). Princess Charlene accompanied His Serene Highness wearing this rose gold. skirt and top combo. This was the peak of Charlene’s era of beige and neutral colours. We don’t really know who made this outfit, but I’ve always believed it was Dior, but lately I’ve been thinking it’s I think she wore this outfit in a different colour too, but I can’t remember when, do you?. Char also wore her Bulgari Serpenti watch which we have not seen in many, many years.
Day 3: July 11, 2015 – Monaco
On July 11th 2015, Princess Charlene gave her first (and so far only) speech in French at the Place du Palais in Monte Carlo as part of Prince Albert’s 10 year jubilee. The Princess of Monaco called her husband the prince of her heart in this powder pink dress by Tommy Hilfiger. A last minute choice by @Valerie B, the dress was styled safely but successfully with Dior two-tone pumps, matching Dior sunglasses, and pearl earrings. I’ve always liked the fit of this dress on HSH, the waist is phenomenal IMO. The back, however, feels a bit much for such a relaxed event.
Day 4: May 27, 2007 – Monaco
On May 27, 2007, fresh-faced Charlene Wittstock attended the Grand Prix gala with her boyfriend, the Prince of Monaco. She “threw on” this Dior by John Galliano peach pink dress and silver clutch. In October 2007, Penelope Cruz wore the same dress to the New York premiere of her movie, Volver with surprisingly similar styling. I think Penelope’s looks most put together, but there’s something sexy about the nonchalant way Char is carrying the look of with here. Charlene still does her own makeup for events sometimes.
Day 5: May 18, 2012 – London
Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her diamond jubilee in 2012. On May 18th, she hosted a luncheon for Monarchs around the world at Windsor Castle. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended. They also attended a dinner given by the Prince of Wales for foreign Sovereigns to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee that night at Buckingham Palace. Her Serene Highness arrived wearing this powder pink gown by Christian Dior. It’s a smart silhouette with the cape making it a bit more interesting. Dior denied that this dress was yours at first, but in 2013, it was displayed at the Musée Oceanographique in Monaco after Raf Simon’s first Resort show for the fashion house. Carla Bruni actually wore the exact same gown in navy to Windsor Castle for a banquet 4 years earlier.
Charlene paired her dress with a snakeskin clutch, diamond earrings (maybe Cartier, maybe Repossi) and bracelet.
Day 6: August 24, 2010 – Monte Carlo
Pictures of this August 24, 2010 “Russian Night” gala are hidden deep in the web, as this dress is probably hidden at the back of HSH’s closet. Everyone wore Léger that year from J Lo to Blake Lively. Charlene is one of only three royals who have publicly worn one of the brand’s creations. The couple was already engaged, so this is a dress that Charlene wore as the future princess of Monaco, and to say I say; if you can pull off a dress like this, you should at least wear it in public once. Huzzah!
Day 7: September 6, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene wore a Terrence Bray jumpsuit and cape. Made from a vintage silk sari, this jumpsuit was a casual surprise. The curly hair is 🔥. Her earrings are from Vanrycke Paris.
Day 8: August 5, 2011 – Monte Carlo
newly weds, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the 63rd Red Cross Gala. Before going on her honeymoon, Princess Charlene called the other Albert, Kriemler of Akris that is, and requested a dress for the gala which was to be Charlene’s first high-profile event as the Princess of Monaco.
Charlene had promised in her interview with Vogue prior to the wedding to wear the Ocean Tiara by Van Cleef and Arpels to the Red Cross Gala, and she did.
Akris usually custom-makes outfits for this kind of events, so it was a surprise when HSH turned up in this fuchsia ready-to-wear dress. This has never been my favorite look. The color of the gown doesn’t clash with the necklace, but it overpowers it (this is the only outing this necklace/tiara has had so far). I don’t get the V pattern on the bodice or the buttons either. However, it was nice to see Albert and Charlene looking happy and dancing the night away.
Day 9: October 8, 2020 – Georgia
Princess Charlene visited the Presidential Palace of Georgia for lunch with President Salome Zourabichvili in 2020. The ladies discussed topics such as education, sport, and culture and also discussed future projects between the two countries. Princess Charlene was dressed in Loro Piana.
Day 10: May 24, 2014 – Monte Carlo
This outfit holds a secret. May 2014 was an exciting time for royal watchers. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene had visited Aurillac earlier in the month and missed a dinner thrown in the couple’s honour because she was “feeling unwell.” A radiant Charlene attended every Grand Prix event, including the gala.⠀
⠀
And so on the 25th, she rocked this Akris “bougainvillea” silk crepe gown with a cap sleeve and zip details on the shoulder and the waist. Add Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist sandals, Repossi’s Art Nouveau cuff ($42,271), an edgy side swept hairstyle by @Stephane_Madinier and bold lipstick (shade specially concocted by @PabloArdizzone) and you’ve got one of my favourite looks of all time.⠀
⠀
A few days after the event, the Palace announced that the Princely Couple was expecting. Royal ladies tend to wear tent dresses and bigger coats when they’re hiding their pregnancies, only our Charlene would hide her pregnancy in a figure-hugging dress like this.
Day 11: July 27, 2013 – Monte Carlo
The princess looked statuesque in an Atelier Versace “blush silk-chiffon strapless gown with lace inserts” and Swarovski crystals. With matching sandals and clutch (both by Versace), Charlene caused quite a stir with this look. For one, the fit was incredible, but what no one failed to notice was the lack of jewerly, aside from her wedding band. This was a bit over a month after HSH attended Princess Madeleine’s wedding, also without any jewerly either. This wasn’t an incident, this was a statement. Charlene took it to the next level with the simple hairstyle and subtle makeup.⠀
⠀
The minimalism works for me here, making this one of my favourite looks of Princess Charlene’s of all time. This an empowering dress and you can tell HSH was carrying it with confidence. She left her diamonds at home because she wanted to shrug🤷♀️ A few months later at The Princess Grace Foundation Awards in New York, Graff Diamonds will be back to take over!
Day 12: June 7, 2020 – Monte Carlo
In 2020, Princess Charlene visited the maternity ward at Princess Grace Hospital wearing a blush Brunello Cucuinelli suit.
Day 13: May 26, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene visited the maternity ward at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre in Monaco, shortly before the Grand Prix in 2019. There was a lot of pink over the Grand Prix weekend, all signed by Akris. This dress happens to be my favourite, the colour is cheerful and the insert on the side is beautiful. I wish it had short sleeves (maybe from the same material as the insert), instead of the black cropped jacket which weighs the down.
Day 14: May 26, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene visited the maternity ward at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre in Monaco, shortly before the Grand Prix in 2019. There was a lot of pink over the Grand Prix weekend, all signed by Akris. This dress happens to be my favourite, the colour is cheerful and the insert on the side is beautiful. I wish it had short sleeves (maybe from the same material as the insert), instead of the black cropped jacket which weighs the down.
Day 14: July 2, 2012 – Paris
Princess Charlene attended the Dior Haute Couture F/W 2012 fashion show, Raf Simons’ first collection for the house. The Princess looked stunning in her simple pink dress and lace clutch. The silhouette was very flattering and the topaz/citrine(?) earrings were a nice touch.
Day 15: May 16, 2010 – Monte Carlo
Charlene Wittstock wore this Armani dress to the 2010 Grand Prix Gala.
Day 16: July 27, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene wore this Terrence Bray jumpsuit to the civil wedding ceremony of Louis Ducruet and Marie Chevallier.
Day 17: 26th May 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene wore an Akris Black silk crêpe asymmetric long tunic, a neon asymmetric tunic with bellini silk bottom zip pants. the ensemble comes from the Spring/Summer collection but the colours were especially changed for the Princess for the 2019 Grand Prix.
Day 18: December 19, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene wore a Terrence Bray dress with an Akris jacket and bag to visit the Princess Grace Hospital Centre in 2019.
Day 19: October 24, 2016 – New York
In 2016, TSH the Prince and Princess were on a visit to New York for the Princess Grace Awards. The couple stopped at the Cartier store on 5th Avenue to open a gallery dedicated to Princess Grace. Princess Charlene looked romantic in her Dior off-shoulder top and skirt, both by Dior (swipe to the last slide to see the skirt).
Day 20: May 29, 2016 – Monte Carlo
The jumpsuit was a collaboration between Princess Charlene, the incomparable Haider Ackermann, and Princess Charlene’s then-stylist Valerie B. For Princess Charlene, this was a special look, but for Valerie, this was a vision come true. Haider’s designs were on the very first inspiration board Valerie created for Her Serene Highness “I thought his designs fitted perfectly to my vision of her style and body shape,” Valerie told me. Valerie, Haider, and Charlene met three times to decide on the outfit. And the result is one of my favourites.
Day 21: February 22, 2012 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene attended a charity gala held by “Monaco Disease Power” wearing Graf earrings.
Day 22: July 7, 2013 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene attended the 150th anniversary of Monte-Carlo SBM in this color-block dress by Tibi.
Day 23: May 30, 2013 – Monte Carlo
HSH eyed the Akris Spring 2013 dress in October 2012, and wore it in April for a photo shoot for the cover of Vogue Japan Health and Beauty
Day 24: July 30, 2010 – Monte Carlo
Double power with both Princess Charlene (then Miss Wittstock) and Princess Stephanie in pink at the Red Cross Gala in 2010. Charlene was in Armani.
Day 25: July 19, 2019 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene attended the trotting race “Prix Princesse Charlène de Monaco – Charity Race” wearing a pink maxi dress by a Turkish designer.
Day 26: February 25, 2013 – Milan
Princess Charlene wore a blush blazer to the Armani show in Milan in 2013.
Day 27: October 28, 2020 – Monte Carlo
Princess Charlene wore this Brunello Cuccinelli geometric print shirt last May at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre. It’s still available on Farfetch (they call it light brown, I’m going with dark pink). The turtleneck is a repeat by Loro Piana.
The pants are by Celine and we last saw them in December 2016. The proportions of these pants make them very beautiful. The Louis Vuitton ballerinas are also also a repeat.
We’ve got some 80s-inspired preppy vibe going on here with the shirt over a turtleneck and high-wait trousers. I’m here for it. The pearl necklace was a nice touch.
Day 28: May, 2020 – Monte Carlo
From the Grand Prix reception in May last year. HSH had quite a colourful wardrobe the entire weekend. This Akris berry double diamond print silk georgette plissé dress is interesting and we didn’t get to see it in full length on the Princess until the BBC documentary on Monaco aired earlier this year.
Day 29: September 13, 2013 – Monte Carlo
The Princess embraced the traditional Monegasque dress with this version fashioned in the Palace (her clutch is Armani) in 2013. I think she should bring out this one again. Also, the colour reminds me of peppermint candy. Can it be Christmas already?!
Day 30: June 19, 2010 – Stockholm
To the public, Charlene was the girlfriend of Prince Albert at the time of Crown Princess Victoria’s wedding. Charlene didn’t wear any rings to avoid any speculation at Victoria’s wedding. But she was still attending the wedding of a future queen and so she had to bring out a big gun. These chandelier earrings make enough of a statement of Charlene’s status and give a hint about her future role.
Days later when the engagement is announced, Repossi would be revealed as the jeweller behind Charlene’s engagement ring.
